While on a book signing tour in
Texas during December 2000, Tillman Franks and Book Publisher Robert Gentry
spent the night in Waco, Texas and on Saturday morning, Dec. 16, were looking
for a place to eat breakfast. As they approached the traffic circle, they saw
"The Elite Cafe." Tillman immediately remarked, "I ate there with Elvis," as
he pointed at the Cafe. After Tillman and Robert entered the restaurant, they
found that Elvis had in fact eaten at The Elite. There was a plaque on one of
the booths detailing the occasion and it is the restaurant's "claim to fame."
