Milano, Texas Re-Visited Tillman Franks re-visited Milano, Texas. The little town was the site of the tragic wreck on Nov. 5, 1960 which took the life of Johnny Horton and seriously injured Tillman and guitar player Tommy Tomlinson. They were returning to Shreveport, La. after working a date at the old Skyline Club in Austin, Texas. The wreck occurred about 1:30 a.m. Above, Tillman stands by the sign announcing that motorists are approaching Milano from the west on U.S. Hwy. 79. In the background can be seen the railroad overpass on which the accident occurred. The old overpass on which the accident happened was replaced some years ago.
