MUSICAL CALL ON AN AILING
COLLEAGUE... Room 226 at Schumpert Sanitarium was jumping like any
room of the Brill Building in Manhattan Tuesday afternoon when folk
balladeer George Alexander (at right) featured with Herb Shriner's "Pops
Americana," joined Johnny Horton to pay a surpise hospital visit with
Horton's personal manager, Tillman Franks. Alexander said he plans to
add Horton's latest disc success, "North to Alaska," to his repertoire
and may include it on later "Pops Americana" concerts in Texas and the
Southwest. Franks is expected to be out of the hostital soon. (Times
